Ventura Community Center - Storm Shelter

The Community Center is a perfect venue to host a wedding reception.  A recent sound system upgrade allows for plug and play music from your playlist through our speaker system.  New lighting upgrade this year includes LED icicle lights and LED snowfall lights.  We offer special rates for non-profit groups.  The building is equipped with a stage, projector, wifi and wireless sound mic.  Cable television is also available.  Seating will accommodate up to 300 people.  A large commercial kitchen can handle any occasion.  Please give us a call to schedule a tour of the building and check for available dates.  An event calendar is also on this website.  Most of our guests have several days to decorate and prepare for their big event.  We look foward to making your special day a stress free event.   

The Ventura Community Center was built in 2004 as a tornado shelter.  It was the second one built in Iowa with the help of FEMA and the Iowa Dept. of Homeland Security.  In the event of a weather emergency, the storm sirens are activated by police dispatch, the sirens transmit a signal to the Community Center to open the doors and activate a strobe light.  In the event of a power disruption, the building has a automatic diesel generator to power the entire building.
