 What is the recycling pick up schedule?

Every Tuesday with regular garbage. Please have your items at the curb by 7 a.m.

 At what point is a snow emergency declared?

69.10     No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley, or City owned off-street parking area when snowfall is one inch or greater in accumulation within a 24-hour period unless the snow has been removed or plowed from said street, alley or public off-street parking area and the snow has ceased to fall.

 Do I need a permit for a recreational fire?

105.5 section 5 Recreational Fires:  Open fires for cooking, heating, recreation and ceremonies, provided they comply with the limits for emission of visible air contaminants established by the State Department of Natural Resources.  Rubber tires shall not be burned in a recreational fire.

 Who do I contact to rent a park shelter?

There are four public park shelters available within the City of Ventura. 

1)  West Lake Street Playground Park has a shelter, but does not have restroom facilities.  No reservations are necessary.  This park features unique play equipment items.  A climbing rock with face pulls, bounce buttons, swing set and a drinking fountain that also accommodates dogs.  This park is owned by the City of Ventura.  Please call the City Hall if you require further information at 641.829.3861.

2)  Harbor Inn Park shelter is located on South Main Street.  This shelter is located on the western shore of the lake.  This shelter does not have a reservation policy.  Brand new in 2011 is the handicapped accessible fishing jetty to compliment the existing jetty.  Restroom is available on site with a paved parking area.  The park is owned by the Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources.  For more information please call 641.829.3847 or use this email address  McIntoshWoods@dnr.state.ia.us for McIntosh Woods State Park.
